Volleyball Recap: Hawkins Takes a Loss

Hawkins was the 3-0 winner over Pewitt when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks fell just short of the Brahmas by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Hawkins took Pewitt into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 17-25, 21-25, 25-21, 17-15.

Pewitt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma McCoy, who had 11 digs and two aces. Those 11 digs gave McCoy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was McKensi Jackson, who had 33 digs.

Hawkins' loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Pewitt, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hawkins will take on rival Ore City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pewitt is set to challenge their familiar foe Big Sandy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
