Basketball Recap: Independence Falls Despite Big Games from Haymann Milton and Jayden Anderson

Independence suffered their closest loss since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons by a score of 48-45. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost six in a row.

Jayden Anderson and Haymann Milton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Anderson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Milton posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Je'Marcus Weatherspoon, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Independence has already played their next matchup (against Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they will challenge Mandeville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Thomas Aquinas is facing Mandeville at the right time seeing as Mandeville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
