Football Game Preview: Atlas HomeSchool Rattlers vs. Dallas HSAA Angels

The Atlas HomeSchool Rattlers will head out to face off against the Dallas HSAA Angels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Atlas HomeSchool beat John Paul II 34-21. The Rattlers pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.

Atlas HomeSchool got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Davis out in front who rushed for 178 yards on only 15 carries. That's the most rushing yards Davis has posted since back in October of 2024. Christopher Stewart helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Atlas HomeSchool was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 423 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Atlas HomeSchool's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Tobias Miller with two. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Atlas HomeSchool got some further help from Timmy Thames: he forced one fumble, made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defended three passes.

Meanwhile, Dallas HSAA got the win against John Paul II on Friday by a conclusive 36-16. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Angels.

Dallas HSAA's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Atlas HomeSchool, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Atlas HomeSchool couldn't quite finish off Dallas HSAA in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 23-20. Can the Rattlers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
