Lubbock-Cooper is 10-0 against Lubbock since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lubbock-Cooper Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Lubbock Westerners at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lubbock-Cooper has three straight victories, Lubbock has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Lubbock-Cooper was able to grind out a solid win over Caprock, taking the game 72-61. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Longhorns are ranked 808th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lubbock played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Amarillo and fell 65-32. The Westerners were down 54-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Everything came up roses for Lubbock-Cooper against Lubbock in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-46 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lubbock-Cooper since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
