Baseball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Dubuque

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but River Ridge/Scales Mound had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the East Dubuque Warriors with a sharp 15-7 victory. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Damon Dittmar made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because River Ridge/Scales Mound is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Dittmar was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, River Ridge/Scales Mound got a massive performance out of Joe Winter, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Winter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaden Duerr, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.

River Ridge/Scales Mound was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win (which was River Ridge/Scales Mound's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for East Dubuque, their loss dropped their record down to 16-14-1.

As of now, neither River Ridge/Scales Mound nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
