Baseball Game Preview: George County Rebels vs. Hancock Hawks

For the second straight game, George County will face off against Hancock. The Rebels will head out to take on the Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (George County has five straight victories, Hancock has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, George County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Hancock. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by just one run.

Carson Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, George County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Canyon Reeves, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

George County pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
