Softball Recap: Cabrini Wins Going Away Against Detroit Cristo Rey

Cabrini not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2024. They put the hurt on the Detroit Cristo Rey WOLVES with a sharp 20-2 win. With that victory, the Monarchs brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Catherine Schumm was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Coraline McAffrey was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Elena DelCotto was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Cabrini kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Cabrini's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Detroit Cristo Rey, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
