Preview: Hillsborough Terriers vs. Tampa Bay Tech Titans
Hillsborough is 1-8 against Tampa Bay Tech since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hillsborough Terriers will be home for the holidays to greet the Tampa Bay Tech Titans at 8:00 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Hillsborough was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-51 to Wharton. While losing is never fun, Hillsborough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Wharton is ranked 70th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jojo Cruz-Smartt, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deana Epps , who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Tech came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 48-14 victory over King at home. Considering Tampa Bay Tech has won three matches by more than 33 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hillsborough's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3.
