Soccer Game Preview: Hanks vs. El Dorado

The Hanks Knights will venture away from home to square off against the El Dorado Aztecs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hanks managed to keep up with Del Valle until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Hanks lost 6-0 to Del Valle. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Conquistadores are ranked 122nd).

Meanwhile, El Dorado entered their tilt with Parkland on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Matadors. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by just one goal.

El Dorado pushed their record up to 8-3-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five matches. As for Hanks, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Hanks might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from El Dorado in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Hanks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
