Baseball Game Preview: Vandegrift Vipers vs. Cedar Ridge Raiders

For the second straight game, Vandegrift will face off against Cedar Ridge. The Vipers are taking a road trip to take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vandegrift's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cedar Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Vandegrift's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Cedar Ridge hitters got past them. The Vipers came up short against the Raiders on Tuesday, falling 15-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vipers have suffered against the Raiders since March 1, 2018.

For Cedar Ridge's part, Matthew Fletcher made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Fletcher was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Hudson Hartgrove was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Kasen Langerhans was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Vandegrift and nudges their season record down to 11-4. As for Cedar Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6-1.
