Basketball Recap: Cedar Creek's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

If Cedar Creek was feeling good fresh off their 83-43 takedown of Navarro last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cedar Creek Eagles lost 67-41 to the McCallum Knights on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Cedar Creek got some senior leadership from Kenji Franklin and Eli Meyers. Franklin dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards, while Meyers went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points. Franklin's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Cedar Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Cedar Creek's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-12. As for McCallum, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Cedar Creek will venture away from home to take on Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCallum, they will welcome Bastrop at 8:00 p.m. on January 10th.
