Baseball Recap: Montebello Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Montebello had won three straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 14-6 to make it four. They never let the Schurr Spartans get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 6-1 victory on Wednesday.

Ben Richards and Brady Arellano dominated on the mound. Richards pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Arellano pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Richards has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Fernando Cruz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Nathan Ibarra was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Schurr, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13. Surprisingly, this marked their third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Schurr's side, David Torres was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Torres gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Schurr saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Lu, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Montebello is taking a road trip to challenge Marshall at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Oilers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Schurr, they will welcome Nogales at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
