Southern Wayne skates past Smithfield-Selma with ease

Recap: Southern Wayne Saints vs. Smithfield-Selma Spartans

The Southern Wayne Saints won the last time they faced the Smithfield-Selma Spartans, and things went their way on Friday too. Southern Wayne blew past Smithfield-Selma 52-17 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-11.

Southern Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Hines-Bass led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hines-Bass has scored at least a third of Southern Wayne's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilberline Senatus, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Southern Wayne and bumps their season record up to 9-13. As for Smithfield-Selma, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-19.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Fike the next time they take the court. Smithfield-Selma will head out to face Fike at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Southern Wayne will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
