Recap: Wills Point Tigers vs. Sunnyvale
After soaring to 49 points the game before, The Wills Point Tigers were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 69-7 loss at the hands of Sunnyvale. Wills Point has struggled against Sunnyvale recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Jett Fletcher rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Larandion Dowden was his top target, gaining 131 total yards.
Leading Sunnyvale to victory were Jaden Cross and Nelson Peterson jr. Cross rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, while Peterson jr rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Cross' longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Garren James made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Wills Point's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sunnyvale, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wills Point will take on Ford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Ford is ranked 591st, while Wills Point is ranked 602nd). As for Sunnyvale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Caddo Mills at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Caddo Mills is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
