Basketball Game Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Denair Coyotes

The Gustine Reds are taking a road trip to square off against the Denair Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gustine has insisted on making their last ten contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-10 during that stretch of close contests.

Gustine played against Delhi and lost via forfeit.

If Denair beats Gustine with 63 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Denair enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over Waterford on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.

Gustine better keep an eye on Koby Cervantes. He was instrumental in Denair's win, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most boards Cervantes has posted since back in January of 2024. Sebastian Esquivel was another key player, going 5 for 6 to rack up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Denair smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Denair's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Gustine, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.
