Softball Game Preview: Whitehall-Yearling Rams vs. Worthington Christian Warriors

The Whitehall-Yearling Rams will square off against the Worthington Christian Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Whitehall-Yearling didn't have quite enough to beat Westland and fell 14-13. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aubree Waites was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. Waites was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Moore led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Tamia Latham was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Worthington Christian). They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Delaware Christian last Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly 11 runs.

Worthington Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Whitehall-Yearling, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
