Basketball Game Preview: Taylor County Vikings vs. Chattahoochee County Panthers

Two dominant guards in Brayden Ellison and Champ Simpson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Taylor County Vikings and the Chattahoochee County Panthers will face off at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Taylor County will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Taylor County strolled past Central with points to spare, taking the game 73-56. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Hawks are ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ellison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 19 points. Marcal Myles was another key player, earning ten points.

Meanwhile, Chattahoochee County hadn't done well against Macon County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Chattahoochee County had just enough and edged Macon County out 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since December 28, 2024.

Chattahoochee County is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points over those games. As for Taylor County, their victory bumped their record up to 20-3.
