Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Washington-Liberty Generals
Langley is 10-0 against Washington-Liberty since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Langley Saxons will be playing at home against the Washington-Liberty Generals at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Langley is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Washington-Liberty in Virginia (Langley is ranked 20th, while Washington-Liberty is ranked 101st).
After a string of ten wins, Langley's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 30-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of McLean. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Langley has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Vicky Zawisza, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anya Rahman, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Even though Washington-Liberty has not done well against Yorktown recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Washington-Liberty took down Yorktown 53-37.
Langley's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-2. As for Washington-Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Langley was able to grind out a solid win over Washington-Liberty in their previous meeting on Wednesday, winning 48-37. Does Langley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Washington-Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
