Softball Recap: West End Has No Trouble Against Appalachian

West End won the last time they faced Appalachian and things went their way on Thursday too. The West End Patriots blew past the Appalachian Eagles 8-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Emma Franklin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kennedi Nix was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Braylee King was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

West End kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Appalachian only managed six hits.

West End's record now sits at 2-0. As for Appalachian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, West End will take on Etowah in a tournament on Friday. As for Appalachian, they will take on Pennington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
