Baseball Recap: North Central Takes a Loss

North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parke Heritage Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Lane Phegley put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Phegley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Phegley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Phegley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Greydyn Walters, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

North Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Parke Heritage, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.

North Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Dugger Union on the 28th. As for Parke Heritage, they have also already played their next matchup, an 8-5 loss against North Putnam on the 24th.
