Basketball Recap: Maeve Morgan Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy won the last time they faced Rancho Solano Prep and things went their way on Friday too. The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans came out on top against the Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs by a score of 45-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maeve Morgan out in front who posted 11 points along with six steals and five boards. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed six or more in the last three games she's played. Chloe Crandall was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Solano Prep only pulled down nine offensive boards.

Despite the loss, Rancho Solano Prep still got an impressive performance from Nenah Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Rancho Solano Prep, they moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Phoenix Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Rancho Solano Prep and Gridley will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Solano Prep is facing Gridley at the right time seeing as Gridley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
