St. Charles East was led to victory by Joey Arend, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Saturday. Arend wasn't messing around, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. The pitching appearance was his third straight with seven or more strikeouts.

Arend's strong effort led St. Charles East over Lake Park and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Saints are 9-1 against the Lancers going back to April of 2022, a lead they'll look to extend.
