Basketball Game Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Rancho Rams

Valley hasn't had much luck against Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Valley Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Rancho Rams at 5:00 p.m.

Valley is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They took a blow against Legacy, falling 74-13. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rancho). They blew past Green Valley 64-28 on Wednesday. With the Rams ahead 36-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Rancho had a senior duo take command as Taylor Dagons posted 22 points and Claudia Vargas-Arellano put up 16 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Dagons has scored at least a third of Rancho's points.

The victory got Rancho back to even at 12-12. As for Valley, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Valley couldn't quite finish off Rancho in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 42-40. Can Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
