Savannah had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Smithville Warriors by a score of 21-10 on Friday. The Savages have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Savannah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Cook led the charge by rushing for 81 yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Aiden Knechtenhofer, who rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Savannah's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Braylon Ellis was the leader with three.

The win made it two in a row for Savannah and bumps their season record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.5 points over those games. As for Smithville, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Savannah will take on Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so the Savages' offense will have their work cut out for them. Smithville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
