Softball Recap: Verona Wildcats vs. Ashwaubenon Jaguars

Verona had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 8-1 walloping at the hands of the Ashwaubenon Jaguars on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Verona of the 12-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.

For Ashwaubenon's part, Berritt Herr made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Herr was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run.

In other batting news, Kahlee James was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Elly Kirst was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs.

Ashwaubenon now has a winning record of 2-1.
