With a playoff game on the line, the Tonganoxie Chieftains rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 57-50 victory over Atchison. Winning may never get old, but Tonganoxie sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

It was another big night for Colton Brusven, who rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Brusven has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Isaiah Holthaus also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

When it comes to explaining why Atchison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Xiomar Hernandez. Hernandez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Trey Carter was another key contributor, throwing for 235 yards and a touchdown on only 17 passes.

Tonganoxie pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.5 points per game. As for Atchison, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-1.

Tonganoxie will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Saint Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Saint Thomas Aquinas will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Atchison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
