Baseball Recap: Mission Takes a Loss

Mission came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the San Leandro Pirates by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bears have suffered since April 8, 2024.

Alani Krejci spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Mission and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for San Leandro, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will head out to take on The Academy - San Francisco at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Leandro, they will venture away from home to square off against Berkeley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Leandro's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Berkeley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
