Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sloan Campbell and Nadia Mithqal Lead Monticello to Victory + How To Watch

Monticello took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Louisa County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since October 3, 2024.

Monticello had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-13.

Leading Monticello to victory were Nadia Mithqal and Sloan Campbell. Mithqal had 37 digs and five aces, while Campbell had 16 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Campbell has posted since back in October of 2024. Sophie Wood was another key player, getting five aces and three digs.

They weren't the only good server: Monticello was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Monticello's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Louisa County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Orange County on the 11th. As for Louisa County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Albemarle on the 11th.
