Baseball Recap: Hoover Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hoover, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past the St. Genevieve Valiants 20-0 on Thursday. For the Tornados, this counts as revenge for the 15-4 victory the Valiants walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Alex Weimar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Weimar was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Daniel Cano was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Kieran Sinta was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hoover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Genevieve only posted an OBP of .111.

Hoover's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. Genevieve, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Hoover and St. Genevieve will both be playing Providence the next time they take the field. Hoover will host Providence at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while St. Genevieve will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
