Sotomayor proved they can win big  last Friday (they won by 31) and  on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Taft Raiders  34-31. Winning may never get old, but the WILDCATS sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Sotomayor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Haewood Anderson led the charge by rushing for 186 yards and two  TDs. Those  186  rushing yards gave  Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Chauncey Moon, who rushed for 60 yards and one  touchdown on only five carries.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sotomayor was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 278  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 278  rushing yards in five consecutive  matchups.
 Despite the loss, Taft still got an impressive performance from   Tucker Vogel, who rushed for 160 yards and three  scores, and also threw for 135 yards and one  TD. That high mark didn't come from nowhere:  Vogel posted at least 121  rushing yards in the third games prior. A healthy portion of  Vogel's aerial production (100 yards to be exact)  went to  David Aguirre, who also brought in a  receiving touchdown.
Sotomayor's record is now 5-3. As for Taft, they now  have a losing record of 3-4.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sotomayor will  take on  rival Warren  at 2:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Meanwhile, Taft is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Harlan  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. That  game will pit two of the most dominant  signal callers against one another:  Vogel and  Aldric Trotter.
