Football Recap: Atlantic Collegiate Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Atlantic Collegiate Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Marion Swamp Foxes with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-12. The Armada pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Swamp Foxes cut but never quite recovered from.

Semaj Wilson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Atlantic Collegiate Academy proved: they limited Marion to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least five total tackles, Wilson stood above the rest. He rushed for 89 yards and three scores. Atlantic Collegiate Academy's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.07 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 3.93 on average over their last five games.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Marion, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Atlantic Collegiate Academy and Marion will both be playing Lake City the next time they take the field. The Armada will head out to face the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Swamp Foxes will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
