The Jacobs Eagles will face off against the Central Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jacobs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Wednesday, Jacobs needed a bit of extra time to put away Dundee-Crown. They blew past the Chargers 12-6. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jacobs got a great performance from George Donze as he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Donze has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jace Koth was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cooper Gulgren was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Jacobs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Central came up short against Huntley on Wednesday and fell 5-1.
Jacobs' victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13-2 record this season.
Jacobs' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jacobs continue to outrun the ball?
Jacobs got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Central by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
