Preview: Jones Trojans vs. Davenport Wolves
The Jones Trojans are on the road again on Friday and play against the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jones had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Calallen on Friday and snuck past 27-25.
Jones' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darion Perez, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sustaita, who rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Davenport put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They really took it to Fredericksburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-14 victory on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-7.
Barrett Fallon was on fire: he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Fallon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Davenport also got help from Kyler Payne who showed off his sure hands for 153 receiving yards.
Jones' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Davenport, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
