Football Recap: Capital Bruins vs. Glacier Wolfpack
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Capital had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 34-21 victory over the Glacier Wolfpack. The win was nothing new for the Bruins as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
A big part of Capital's victory came down to the chemistry between Merek Mihelish and his top target Dylan Almquist. Mihelish threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while Almquist picked up 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 70 yards. A healthy portion of Mihelish's aerial production (90 yards to be exact) also went to Daniel Larson.
Capital's defense made their presence known, laying out Jackson Presley. three times. Cole Graham was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
When it comes to explaining why Glacier lost, don't look at Kobe Dorcheus. Despite the final result, he rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Dorcheus' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards.
Capital's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Glacier, they moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
