Recap: Rivercrest Colts vs. Harding Academy Wildcats
The Rivercrest Colts and the Harding Academy Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Rivercrest Colts had to settle for second. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Rivercrest's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Rivercrest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Koby Turner. Despite the final result, he rushed for 232 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry, and also threw for seven yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Turner set a new season high mark in carries with 33.
Even if they lost, Rivercrest's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Leading the way was Tekylun Sanders and his two sacks.
Harding Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Miller led the charge by throwing for 362 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Miller is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Citty, who picked up 169 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Rivercrest's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Harding Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Rivercrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Harding Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
