Basketball Game Preview: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Covington Chargers

Craigmont is 0-7 against Covington since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Craigmont Chiefs will welcome the Covington Chargers at 6:00 p.m.

Craigmont is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Millington Central on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Craigmont had to suffer through a 58-22 loss at the hands of Millington Central. The Chiefs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-4.

Meanwhile, Covington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 34-29 win over the Cougars.

Covington has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Craigmont, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Craigmont took a serious blow against Covington when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 61-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Covington's TaKyra Boddie, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 18 points along with five boards and four steals.
