Basketball Game Preview: Huntington North Vikings vs. Cathedral Fighting Irish

The Huntington North Vikings just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Cathedral Fighting Irish at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Huntington North was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to Bellmont. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Braves are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, Cathedral unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 49-32 to Center Grove. The contest marked the Fighting Irish's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Huntington North and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Cathedral, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 12-8.

Huntington North ended up a good deal behind Cathedral in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 50-36. Thankfully for Huntington North, Taylor Lewis (who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time.
