Basketball Recap: Jayven Welch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southaven over Center Hill

Southaven was the 47-43 winner over Center Hill when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Southaven Chargers fell 55-48 to the Center Hill Mustangs on Thursday.

Southaven lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayven Welch, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Jones, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points.

Southaven has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Center Hill, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Southaven and Ashland will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Center Hill, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-28 defeat against Overton on the 21st.
