Mackenzie Moore leads a balanced attack to beat Greene Central

Recap: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. Greene Central Rams

The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They blew past Greene Central 53-32. Considering SouthWest Edgecombe has won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SouthWest Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mackenzie Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The match was Moore's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kd Collins, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Greene Central saw an underclassman step up: An'nysha Wooten scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her.

Greene Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as SouthWest Edgecombe pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.

SouthWest Edgecombe's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Greene Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

SouthWest Edgecombe will head out on the road to face off against North Pitt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. North Pitt is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Greene Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ayden - Grifton at 6:00 p.m. Ayden - Grifton is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
