Volleyball Recap: Chariho Chargers vs. Westerly Bulldogs
Chariho faced Westerly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Chargers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Chariho sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13.
Kody Poplaski paced Chariho's offense, picking up 31 kills. Poplaski got some help from Kasey Poplaski and his 54 assists. Carter Stolt controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Chariho's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Westerly, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Chariho will be playing at home against Cranston East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Westerly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
