Recap: North Charleston Cougars vs. Hanahan Hawks
The North Charleston Cougars posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past Hanahan 60-30 on the road. With North Charleston ahead 35-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
North Charleston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Jordan led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five rebounds. Ethen Cobin-Willis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Hanahan's loss came despite strong showings from Jonah Auckenthaler and Justin Maduro. Auckenthaler scored seven points along with nine rebounds, while Maduro scored two points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Maduro is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played.
Hanahan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Charleston pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
North Charleston now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Hanahan, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-11.
North Charleston will take on Beaufort at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Beaufort is ranked 114th, while North Charleston is ranked 111th). As for Hanahan, they will head out on the road to square off against Philip Simmons at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Philip Simmons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
