The Franklin Pierce Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Steilacoom Sentinels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin Pierce is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
On Tuesday, Franklin Pierce got the win against Foss by a conclusive 23-2.
Kallie Sullivan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Sullivan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Franklin Pierce let Laneigha Garcia and Leila Kennach run wild. Garcia fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5, while Kennach went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those two home runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Franklin Pierce kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Steilacoom lost 20-6 to Fife on Tuesday.
Abigail Butterfield was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Cortez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Franklin Pierce's record is now 3-0. As for Steilacoom, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Steilacoom's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin Pierce has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Steilacoom, though, as they've been averaging 13 hits. Given Franklin Pierce's sizable advantage in that area, the Sentinels will need to find a way to close that gap.
Franklin Pierce took their win against Steilacoom in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Sentinels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
