There's no place like home for Smithfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the St. Mary Academy-Bay View Bengals on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Crystal Cacador was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Lily Riggin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mia Howard, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Smithfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary Academy-Bay View only managed three hits.

Smithfield pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for St. Mary Academy-Bay View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
