Volleyball Game Preview: Imperial Tigers vs. San Ysidro Cougars

The Imperial Tigers will face off against the San Ysidro Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Imperial will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each game than the last.

Imperial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hoover by a score of 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their 15-game losing streak.

While Imperial might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Hoover scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 15-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, San Ysidro unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Southwest SD by a score of 3-2. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-10 in the first set.

San Ysidro couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Southwest SD a tough time in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 25-22, 18-25, 30-28, 15-13.

Imperial will have to keep a close watch on Ryan Nance and Kenneth Rocha, a pair of players who had a big impact on San Ysidro's prior game. Nance had 16 digs and one assist, while Rocha had ten digs.

Imperial's win bumped their record up to 8-22. As for San Ysidro, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 21-10.
