Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Tigers vs. Sand Creek Scorpions

The Lakewood Tigers will take on the Sand Creek Scorpions in a tournament on Friday. Lakewood will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Lakewood fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Summit on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Tigers.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caroline Bane, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Bane is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amber Martinez, who posted no points in addition to 13 steals and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by D'Evelyn 56-14. The Scorpions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-4.

Sand Creek's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
