Volleyball Recap: Midtown Knights vs. Lovett Lions
Midtown was the 2-0 winner over Lovett when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Tuesday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Midtown ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17.
Estelle Leege paced Midtown's offense, picking up eight kills. Leege got some help from Lucy Konisky and her 19 assists.
Lovett's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Margaux Godfrey, who had 11 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Ali Wainwright, who had eight assists and five digs.
Midtown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lovett, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coming up, Midtown will square off against Druid Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lovett, they will face off against St. Pius X Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
