Baseball Recap: Dixon Falls to East Carteret in First Game of Season

Dixon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the East Carteret Mariners by a score of 6-5 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now lost five in a row.

Dixon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Ponsock, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Coffer Payton was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixon will host New Bern at 7:00 p.m. on February 24th. As for East Carteret, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Jacksonville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
