Volleyball Recap: Havana Ducks vs. Illini West Chargers

Havana entered their matchup against Illini West on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Ducks fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-1. If the Ducks were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Chargers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 24-26, 25-17.

Havana's offense was headlined by Kaydi Miller and Erin Curless, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Ava Kramer and her 23 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Olivia Kramer, racking up three apiece.

Illini West can attribute much of their success to Elyse Moore, who had four digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in assists (two).

Havana's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Illini West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Coming up, Havana will head out on the road to square off against Lewistown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Illini West, they will welcome Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
