Baseball Recap: Tooele Comes Up Short

Tooele extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-16 in the process. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. The Buffaloes were not able to make up for their loss to the Soaring Eagle from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Tooele saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Freeman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Another was Luis Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Juan Diego Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Juan Diego Catholic's side, Lange Livonius made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Livonius also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Juan Diego Catholic is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Livonius was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Juan Diego Catholic let Tage McKinley and Castle Huggard run wild. McKinley went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Huggard went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. McKinley has become a key player for Juan Diego Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

While Tooele had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
