Baseball Recap: Providence's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Providence's offense. They fell just short of the Floyd Central Highlanders by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Pioneers were not able to make up for their loss to the Highlanders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Gavin Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Providence's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Floyd Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will venture away from home to take on New Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Floyd Central, they will challenge Ballard at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
